Michael Schumacher

My name is Parameshwari. It’s a barren village, where I live. Any agriculture is dependent on seasonal rainfall and there are no irrigation facilities. The primary health center is never open. My youngest daughter died a couple of months back of diarrhea. My kids stopped going to school because the teachers are mostly not there and school building is expected to collapse soon. My family hasn’t had three square meals in a long time. Oh yeah, my husband is drunk bastard who beats me up every night.

Couple of miles from my home, there are building a new Formula One track. I’m really excited to see Michael Schumacher. Although I heard he is retiring soon.

Here is the news:

Karanataka enters the F1 race

All the five investors Punjab/Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, being the others are aware of the basic investment needs, including $80-100 million for the Formula One infrastructure and 600-650 acres of land that will house the circuit, hotels and the multi-utility complex. However, with television rights going to F1 Management, there is not much to be earned from hosting the race.

Hey, Parameshwari can enjoy the race!

This is one of the instances of a paradoxical paradigms of development. Especially from a third world perspective. In a loose sense, the SEZ's, FTZ's etc once fell in the same category..

hare yaar .. haven't you studied in economics... the private expenditure in value creation improves the gross income levels of the peoples and it trickles down in the economy using multiplier and accelerator effect..

Hey maybe parmeshwari can sell her land taking into account the track being constructed nearby...the land could in turn be used for providing services to tourists coming to see f1...consequently using the money to send her kids to better school or trying to live independently from her abusive husband or both for that matter... :)

Shakky, we could call that the Parameshwari Paradox ;)...jokes apart, slowly every city, every street of our country has begun to exhibit the ever widening urban-rural divide that exists...IT parks on the left side of the road, slums to the right...n there seems to be no Peter or Paramasivam who seems to be listening...
